I played High Speed a lot when I was in High School. There was one in a restaurant that was owned by a friend’s parents. I don’t know if they ever made any money on the little game room, but we had a great time playing in there. High Speed isn’t a complicated game, but it is a lot of fun. The shots are fun, and the sounds are great. I found this one in 2008 or 2009, and I don’t have any plans to get rid of it. It is a keeper. It was working when I bought it, but it had some bad spots on the playfield and some other more minor problems. I stripped it down to the playfield to try to fix some of the damage and touch up a few spots. I don’t think this is something I will ever try again. It is a ton of work, and painting is not one of skills. It took about 6 months to get the game put back together. I lost the tear down pics I took for a while, and I didn’t want to try to piece it together without them.
If you haven’t played High Speed, come on over and try it out. I think everyone should spend some time with this Steve Ritchie classic.
